POST-EDITED MACHINE TRANSLATION

For projects that do not require a high-quality translation, or where cost for a full translation cannot be justified, McElroy Translation can provide a post edited machine translation (PEMT) at half the cost of our technical translation rates.

PEMT begins with running your foreign language documentation through machine translation and then sending the results along with the source to a native-speaking linguist for editing. The final product will not have the quality our technical translation workflow provides, but the additional edit will make it comprehensible.

Machine translations run on McElroy’s server, and all files are received and delivered via McElroy’s secure client portal. Acceptable native formats that can be machine-translated back into their source format are RTF, TXT, XML, XLS + XLSX, DOC + DOCX, PPT + PPTX, and HTM + HTML.

Other formats such as PDF, MSG, and PST are converted into RTF files prior to translation (DOC or TXT also available upon request). Additional costs are applied for conversion and OCR services.
