TRANSLATION MEMORY

Translation memory allows translators to see how segment glossaries have been previously translated. In this way, consistency is established throughout present and future projects. McElroy Translation welcomes all previously created translation memory for use on future projects. We will continually update and maintain translation memory. Our clients own all translation memory created from their projects and may request it at any time. In addition to consistency, clients will also experience a cost savings when 100% and fuzzy matches occur. [Note that X = cost]

• Translation, Editing, Proofing = X/word
• Fuzzy match = X(88%)/word
• 100% match = X(70%)/word

You can expect to find this summarized on your quotes for projects going from English into a foreign language where repetition exists.

McElroy creates, updates, and maintains client translation memory and terminology databases using multiple CAT (computer-assisted translation) tools including SDLX, SDL TRADOS, and MemoQ. The use of these tools allows us to lower costs for 100% and fuzzy matches and increases consistency throughout current and future projects.

In addition to these tools, McElroy employs the MemoQ Server. Benefits include:

• McElroy can work with any translator, regardless of what technology they use. MemoQ was
built with this idea in mind. There are many different TM technologies available, but both
the language service provider and the translator must have the same technology in order to
effectively create a project’s TM. With MemoQ, McElroy isn’t limited in this way, because
regardless of what application a translator is using to capture information, we can integrate
   that TM.

• Translation work can be processed and completed directly on the server. All work that a
translator completes is available to us, allowing projects managers to track progress and react
quickly if a project appears to be taking longer than expected. This also means no work that
has been completed will be lost should the translator have an unexpected emergency.

• Translators are able to collaborate with one another online. A job can be translated and
edited simultaneously while addressing issues in real time.
