Sharon Cannon-White
Sharon modestly asserts that her only "claim to fame" was on January 1, 1952 when she was the first baby to arrive in San Marcos, Texas that year, earning her photo a front-page spot in the local newspaper.
Sharon spent her first eighteen years in New Braunfels, Texas. At New Braunfels High School she was a member of the National Honor Society, Theta Epsilon Nu, OEA and the German Club. At age 18 she married Chuck, the first true love of her life.
They lived and worked and celebrated the birth of son Michael in San Antonio until Chuck's job moved them to Austin in 1976.
Sharon began working for a bookkeeping service that handled the accounts for restaurants owned by Ralph McElroy. (Does that name sound familiar?!) In 1978 the service assumed responsibility for McElroy Translation Company bookkeeping, as well.
Sharon recalls that at that time everything was done manually, sans computers. She laments, "Gosh, that makes me sound old!" Everything was posted in large ledger books, and four-part invoices with carbon copies were typed, as were financial statements, payroll, and W-2s. And now..."Thank heaven for computers!" Sharon exclaims. In 1995 Sharon became a full-time employee of McElroy Translation.
Sharon is a proud grandmother of three. In her spare time she likes to camp in their fifth wheel trailer and shop in antique, junk, and craft stores. She also enjoys reading and doing counted cross–stitch.
