A Message from the President

This month's issue is a wonderfully representative cross section of the human/technology continuum that defines our industry today. As we catapult forward and explore the many ways that technology can help us work, Susan Andrus reports (and tweets!) on McElroy's new presence on Twitter. Meanwhile our lead article conveys what—and who—remains at the core of what we do: human translators are real people with fascinating stories and specialized skills, and they are the foundation of our work. The back–translation process described in another article is an excellent example of a service where the human touch of multiple professionals is critical to success. This process is common for our clients in the medical field with zero error tolerance. Technology has always been a passion of mine. As a child, I got as much enjoyment from taking my toys apart as I did from playing with them. At least now as an adult I can put them back together!
I was born in California, but spent the majority of my life in Colorado. Wanting a change, I packed up the cat, the computers, and the cookware and moved to Austin.
