United Way Capital Area
Many McElroy employees support our local United Way chapter through individual contributions made through payroll deductions. McElroy Translation has provided in-kind contributions through translation of community outreach materials into Spanish. General Manager Shelly Orr Priebe notes that "This is an additional layer of support that builds on what our employees do personally with their systematic payroll contributions."
United Way Capital Area (UWCA) helps more than half a million people each year in a ten county area surrounding Austin. UWCA uses existing community resources through partnerships with organizations providing services throughout Central Texas. These organizations focus on issues integral to a healthy community — providing food, clothing and safe shelter, helping people stay healthy and well, and ensuring that children and adults develop lifelong learning skills.
United Way carefully selects partner agencies in the Austin metropolitan area based on their ability to meet desired outcomes to match community needs, currently supporting 44 organizations such as Austin Habitat for Humanity, Literacy Austin and Family Eldercare.
