Austin Children's Shelter
McElroy has provided in-kind support through the translation of The Austin Children's Shelter (ACS) website and documents to support their efforts to reach out to the Spanish-speaking community in Austin. Several years ago McElroy donated $1100 for a children's mural to be painted in one building with over three-fourths of the contribution coming directly from our employees. In the past we've also funded/hosted a Christmas party for the kids.
One McElroy staff member volunteers 12-15 hours a week as a direct care volunteer — supervising kids, tutoring, changing diapers, washing dishes, etc. He also assists with a 3 hour volunteer orientation and hosts a Muffin Madness or Pancake Party breakfast one Saturday morning every month. His dedication inspires everyone at McElroy and we are proud to support this wonderful organization.
ACS provides emergency shelter, high quality care and hope for the future to the abandoned, abused and neglected children of our community. Each year ACS provides care to approximately 300 children. In the fifteen years since its inception, ACS has grown in response to the needs of the children of Central Texas, and has gained a reputation as one of the very best agencies in the state for children in crisis.
